Walking Football Tournament

The Worshipful The Mayor of Bournemouth, Councillor Chris Mayne, is hosting a Walking Football Tournament at Littledown Centre on Monday 30 March 2015 in aid of his designated charities:

  • Amelia-Grace Rainbow Fund – (Charity No 1146031)
  • Bournemouth Leukaemia Fund (Charity No 290340)
  • Bournemouth Male Voice Choir – (Charity No 801320)
  • Bournemouth YMCA – (Charity No 1078728)
  • Special Olympics (Bournemouth & District) – (Charity No 800329)

To coincide with this event, The Barclays Premier League Trophy will also be on display at the Littledown Centre from 9.30am to 12noon, and from 1pm to 5.30pm; a great photo opportunity for youngsters and all football fans for a minimum donation of £1 towards the Mayor’s Charities.

The Mayor hopes to have up to 20 teams taking part (first come, first served) at a cost of £30 per team. Players must be 50 years of age or older.

Teams will be six-a-side plus up to two subs, the matches will be played on outdoor pitches, duration seven minutes each way.

Initially there will be four groups of five teams, followed by the quarter finals, semis and the final, followed by the presentation of trophies and medals for the top two teams at approx. 6pm. Walking Football Rules apply.

The Mayor himself is intending to participate.

Colette Kiernander, Divisional General Manager at Littledown Centre says,

“Walking football is a brilliant option for people who still love the excitement of the game, but not the running. We are sure this event will be well supported and lots of our Littledown Juniors football players and customers will be so excited to get close to the Barclays Premier League Trophy!”
