Equality and Diversity

BH Live acknowledges its legal duty to promote fairness, eliminate unlawful discrimination and promote good relations between people.  The statutory duty to have due regard to equality in its business, functions and services is detailed in the Equality Act 2010.

The policy recognises that the welfare and interests of all users of the facility are paramount in all circumstances. It aims to ensure that regardless of age, gender, religion or beliefs, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation or socio-economic background, all groups have a positive and enjoyable experience in a safe environment and are protected from abuse whilst participating in activities provided by BH Live.

 BH Live will:

  • treat everyone fairly;
  • give equal access to services;
  • be socially inclusive;
  • be transparent in all that it does; and
  • value customers and staff

BH Live will not tolerate unjust, unfair or unlawful discrimination by any of its staff, contractors or partners including those who deliver services on its behalf.

This principle also applies to the provision of services, whether directly by BH Live, or by organisations on BH Live’s behalf.  In providing services BH Live – or the organisations – must be able to demonstrate that they:

  • have taken into account the needs and characteristics of service users, and in view of these; and
  • have considered the appropriateness and accessibility of the services being offered.

The policy and procedures will be widely promoted and are mandatory for everyone involved in the facility.  Failure to comply with the policy and procedures will be addressed without delay and may ultimately result in dismissal/exclusion from the organisation.

Monitoring

The policy will be reviewed regularly and when there is change to legislation and/or government guidance.
