health and wellbeing programmes

Working with health partners, our pioneering programmes enable people living with health issues to experience the benefits of being more active. Here is a snapshot of some of the schemes we offer. For more head over to the BH Live Active website.

Make Your Move

BH Live has delivered Make Your Move; an activity programme to help more than 400 local, inactive people living with long-term health conditions, including musculoskeletal and heart conditions, cancer, diabetes and obesity.

A Sport England lottery grant supported the programme, in partnership with BH Live,  Bournemouth Borough Council, The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (RBCH) and Active Dorset.

Exercise Referral

Our exercise referral scheme is aimed at people living with a medical condition or injury who are ready to get back into physical activity and are recommended into our leisure centres by their GP.

Discounted exercise activities with professional support and guidance are available for a 12-week period and have already helped thousands of people to be more active.

Community Classes

We run a series of affordable community based classes and activities to encourage more people to get active outside of a traditional leisure centre setting.

From beginners to advanced – all abilities are welcome.

CHAIN (Cycling Against Hip Pain) is a pioneering activity and learning programme which assesses the link between regular cycling activity and reduced hip pain or need for hip surgery.

Healthcare and activity providers including BH Live, The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group, Active Dorset, Bournemouth University and Bournemouth Borough Council support the scheme.
