Royal College of Nursing works out future plans in Bournemouth

This week the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) is filling Bournemouth International Centre with more than 4,000 delegates a day, sending an energetic buzz throughout the venue.

The 2015 RCN Congress one of the biggest annual events hosted in Bournemouth, booking out all the venue’s halls, breakout spaces and open plan areas, and many hotels.

“It’s great to be back in Bournemouth hosting RCN Congress at Bournemouth International Centre, as this fulfils our council agenda to take Congress as close as possible to members in the different regions,”

says Brian French, RCN Conference and Events Manager.

“It has been a pleasure to work with the BIC team in planning this very complex event.”

In addition to a packed conference programme of hot topics and debate in the Windsor Hall, and an impressive exhibition in the Solent and Purbeck Halls, there’s a separate two-day agenda for students, plus more than 80 fringe events running throughout the week in the venue and hotels around Bournemouth.

The conference is being webcast live, with Twitter streaming throughout the venue. The equally packed social calendar includes a quiz night and an evening buffet with live bands for 1,200 guests.

For a completely different and more relaxed congress experience, the RCN is incorporating a gentle physical activity programme for delegates to relax before and after a busy day in congress. Arranged through the venue finding and delegate accommodation service, Business Events Bournemouth, the sessions include wake-up and wind-down seafront walks, sunrise yoga and body flow balance.
Delegates can also take advantage of lunchtime stretch and core exercises.

“It’s always a pleasure to welcome the RCN to this venue and see every available space come alive as nursing professionals, students and keynote speakers engage in lively conversations and debate to shape the future of healthcare in the UK,”

says BH Live Director of Venues, Pat Coyne.

“I’m particularly pleased to see them take full advantage of our location with their own beachside fitness programme while they are here.”
