New chapter for UKIP begins in Bournemouth

The UK Independence Party is back at Bournemouth International Centre for the second time this year to launch a new chapter in its evolution under a brand new leader.

After 23 years campaigning for a Brexit vote, the party will not only be in the mood to celebrate, but also ready to redefine its role in a new political and economic landscape.

The winner of the leadership contest will be announced on Friday, 16 September, followed by what promises to be a lively debate on the party’s future.

“UKIP is delighted to be returning to Dorset and Bournemouth,” says Paul Oakden, Chairman. “In June both the county and the town voted convincingly for Brexit, so it will feel like coming home. The party and its delegates have always found a great welcome in Bournemouth and Bournemouth International Centre has always provided an excellent service to us. Happy to be back.”

The UKIP National Autumn Conference will consist of a plenary session and a number of fringe meetings throughout the two-day conference.

Delegate numbers have yet to be confirmed, but the event could attract up to 1,500 members, generating an economic boost for the region of around £1 million from business tourism.

“I’m pleased to see Bournemouth once again staging a series of debates and discussion for British politics,” says BH Live Director of Venues, Pat Coyne. “After hosting its regional conference and a special, one-day Brexit debate in the summer, we’re delighted to welcome delegates back to launch the next phase in the party’s evolution.”

The UKIP Autumn Conference takes place 16-17 September 2016.
