Cinderella raises thousands for local children

Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of patrons attending UK Production’s popular Cinderella pantomime at Bournemouth Pavilion this year, more than £10,000 has been raised at its after-show collections.

This will now be used to contribute towards a series of outreach projects and schemes by Variety the Children’s Charity and BH Live to help disadvantaged families and young children across the region. Variety has been raising funds for, amongst other urgent items, warm winter coats for extremely underprivileged children in the area.

BH Live, which manages the theatre in partnership with Bournemouth Borough Council, will be launching Terrace Tales, a series of free storytelling, movement and sound sessions for underprivileged 0-6 year olds, starting at its Bournemouth Pavilion Terrace Café in February 2017.

BH Live is a charitable trust and social enterprise focusing on making a positive social impact to the health, wellbeing and economic prosperity of its communities.

“A massive thank you to all who took part in the fundraising and gave so generously, says Paul Griffiths, BH Live’s General Manager at Bournemouth Pavilion. This will make a big difference and enable us to bring theatre activities, through storytelling magic and play, to those who might not otherwise have the opportunity to experience it”.

Variety Wessex chair, Frances Cornelius said “What a fantastic amount to have collected. I would like to thank Cinderella’s cast, particularly those who helped with the collections, and the generous audience members who contributed”.
