BH Live activates south coast for National Fitness Day 2018

BH Live is throwing open its doors across Dorset and Hampshire to provide a range of activities to mark National Fitness Day 2018 – the most active day of the year.

National Fitness Day on Wednesday 26 September 2018 will see a huge range of events and taster sessions take place across the country and the south coast is no exception.

National Fitness Day sees the nation celebrate the fun and thrills of physical activity. Throughout the UK, more than 20,000 free events will take place in gyms, leisure centres, parks, high streets, schools, universities and workplaces as over five million people lace up their trainers and embrace being active for the day.

“Celebrating National Fitness Day gives us another great opportunity to inspire more people of all ages and abilities into physical activity, says BH Live’s Director of Sport and Leisure, Mike Lyons.

“Our programme this year is bigger than ever.  As well as selected free classes and activities, we will also be offering taster sessions on our new Clip ‘N Climb attraction, dance and gym classes in Portsmouth.  Across Bournemouth and Poole activities include swimming tips and classes for pre-school children, HIIT training, 3G football pitch bookings and tennis.”

Last year we got five million people moving and this year we want to go even bigger – giving everyone the chance to experience the fun of fitness.

“The day also offers a fantastic opportunity for the physical activity sector to unlock new markets and attract new members by promoting the broad benefits of movement to the length and breadth of the British nation.”

Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, Chair of National Fitness Day organiser ukactive adds, “National Fitness Day is a powerful tool to raise the profile of physical activity and the role it plays in increasing the health of our nation. By getting people across the country involved we can help provide the initial steps towards continued involvement in physical activity.”
