2,000 professionals meet in Bournemouth to share best practice in Early Years education and development

The delegate audience for the Nursery2Primary Show bears a huge responsibility for the development of children under the age of 11. This year’s show at Bournemouth International Centre, on 24-25 April 2015, promises to be an inspiring yet practical event, featuring some of the best education providers in the UK.

The Nursery2Primary Show offers business opportunities, knowledge sharing, and product and service discovery for anyone with an influence on children’s learning and development, including childminders, children’s centres, and schools from nursery to primary.

Richard Joslin, Managing Director of show organiser Evisstar, says,

“We understand that today’s education professionals are extremely time-poor so we’ve combined the best of an exhibition with high-quality engaging speakers and activities that we hope visitors will find interesting as well as contributing to their professional development goals.”

The Nursery2Primary Show is always busy, lively and well-attended by delegates eager to gain new insight and knowledge to improve the development of a whole generation of under 11s.

This year, visitors will benefit from two new content streams representing the education sector’s dynamic environment. Both should inspire visitors and provide practical tools and tips to improve their day-to-day work.

A Leadership Programme will run sessions from well-known educational thought leaders, with plenty of opportunity for lively Q&A debate.

Keynote speakers are Camila Batmanghelidjh (CBE), founder and Director of the Kids’ Company charity and Jane Friswell, Chief Executive of Nasen.

In her talk Nurturing Neurones, Camila will explore childhood trauma and environmental care and its impact on development, focusing on effective strategies managing behaviour and difficulties in the most vulnerable children and families. Camila has established two successful charities, the place2b and Kids’ Company, which have so far cared for over 17,000 vulnerable children and young people in the UK. Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour awarded her the title of ‘One of the 100 most Powerful Women in the United Kingdom’ and she earned her CBE for her work on behalf of underprivileged children in Britain.

Jane Friswell will explain the graduated approach to special educational needs (SEN), which practitioners and teachers are required to follow when identifying and meeting the needs of children in the Early Years. Jane has played a key role in the production of training materials and guidelines used nationally by Special Educational Needs Coordinators (SENCOs) in schools. These include Preparing for Ofsted Inspection: A Guide for SENCOs and Whole School Staff and A Whole School Approach to Improving Access, Participation and Achievement.

The Nursery2Primary Academy will be running a continuous programme of fun, practical professional development and advice seminars and workshops throughout the two days, covering topics such as dealing with early childhood trauma, how a friendly robot can bring out the best in children, and getting active to improve children’s health and wellbeing.

The Nursery2Primary Show will also host the South West regional meeting of the #OftedBigConversation, where teaching professionals will be able to meet and discuss how to engage more effectively with Ofsted.

Around 80 exhibitors will be there to show the latest educational products and services, some offering off-stand show-only discounts.

“Back-to-back events from a variety of sectors have brought more than 12,000 delegates to Bournemouth this month, estimated to add £5.6 million to the local economy,”

says BH Live Director of Venues, Pat Coyne.

“Around 2,000 of these are Early Years teaching professionals attending the Nursery2Primary Show. It’s great to see this successful show back for another year with a great mix of innovative, academic and practical content to help teachers and child carers to give youngsters the best start in life.”
