Workout for Water is coming to Portsmouth

As part of a global fundraising drive to support projects which provide clean water in East Africa, charitable social enterprise BH Live is running a Workout for Water fitness event at Portsmouth’s Mountbatten Leisure Centre on Sunday 24 November 2019.

Three fundraising Les Mills fitness classes will be taking place between 10am-1pm.

Local residents are encouraged to get active and Workout for Water.

  • BODYCOMBAT™ from 10-11.30am – A high-energy martial-arts inspired non-contact workout.
  • BODYATTACK™ from 11.30am-12.15pm – A high-energy fitness class with moves that cater for total beginners to the more experienced. We combine athletic movements like running, lunging and jumping with strength exercises such as push-ups and squats.
  • BODYBALANCE™ from 12.15-1pm – Bend, balance and stretch through a series of simple yoga moves, embracing elements of Tai Chi and Pilates. Movement and breathing control strengthens the body and promotes feeling of calm and wellbeing.

Participants must be aged 14 years and over. No booking in advance is required and participation is free. BH Live will however be collecting a voluntary £5 donation on the day. 100% of the money raised will go directly to UNICEF to support their work to complete multi-village solar-powered water systems in the Amhara Region of Ethiopia.

Rob Cunningham, BH Live’s Divisional General Manager says,

“By hosting a Workout for Water event in Portsmouth we are providing an opportunity for people of all fitness levels to come along, enjoy a great group fitness workout and hopefully get a buzz from helping others too.”

UNICEF New Zealand Executive Director Vivien Maidaborn says the solar powered water systems in Ethiopia will give thousands of children access to clean, safe and sustainable water that can help them to grow up healthy and strong, safe from water-borne diseases.
