Wimbledon Park Sports Centre has expanded its health and fitness offering with the opening of a brand-new gym, providing more opportunities for local people to stay active and support their wellbeing.
The investment forms part of BH Live’s ongoing commitment to enhancing leisure facilities across Portsmouth and creating welcoming spaces for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy.
The gym features a 13-station Technogym cardio zone, alongside a range of upper and lower body resistance machines and lightweight free weights up to 10kg. Designed to support a variety of training styles and fitness goals, the facility offers a modern, accessible environment for both new and experienced gym users.
The latest addition complements the centre’s existing sports and recreation facilities, which are regularly used by local schools, community groups, clubs, and residents throughout the year. It follows the recent refurbishment of the centre’s changing rooms, toilets, and shower facilities, which was completed in May 2026.
On behalf of BH Live, Rob Cunningham, Director of Leisure and Business Development, said:
“We’re delighted to open Wimbledon Park Sports Centre’s new gym and provide even more opportunities for local people to improve their health and wellbeing through regular physical activity.”
“The new space offers high-quality Technogym equipment in a welcoming environment, making it easier for people to get active, whether they’re taking their first steps into fitness or building on an existing routine. We’re pleased to continue investing in facilities that benefit the local community and support healthier lifestyles.”
The gym is now open and available to eligible members and visitors.
Wimbledon Park Sports Centre is owned by Portsmouth City Council and is operated in partnership with BH Live, a registered charity and social enterprise. The new facility follows recently completed improvements at the centre and forms part of wider investment across BH Live Active venues in Portsmouth.
