The team that delivers leisure activities, sport, health, and wellbeing services at Pelhams Park Leisure Centre, Bournemouth has passed a tough assessment by Sport England’s leading national quality scheme, Quest.
Quest is the best-known improvement programme within the leisure industry and its rigorous assessments challenge even the very best leisure centres in the UK.
Pelhams Park Leisure Centre is located in North Bournemouth. It is managed by BH Live in partnership with BCP Council.
In order to achieve Quest Plus, BH Live’s team at the centre went through a two-year process consisting of mystery visits and assessments.
Areas that were particularly commended included the positive and professional way telephone calls were handled in advance of visiting. The centre was described as being well presented, seamlessly branded, having good security, and its gym light and airy with a great range of kit. The FeelGood Factory, located inside the centre, was also praised for adding an extra and accessible dimension to the facilities.
The healthy options in the Terrace Café, such as vegetable smoothies and fruit, were welcomed, and the sportswear and accessories display complimented.
The overall management of the facilities including; how the standards are maintained, its ambience, best practice, the handling of environmental controls, cleaning, water and energy management, was also admired.
BH Live’s Swimming Academy pathway into Swim Bournemouth, a competitive swimming team affiliated with Swim England, was celebrated. And the process for encouraging talent and swimming progression considered ‘well thought out’.
