Say farewell to the Great Tail Trail at Bournemouth International Centre

On Saturday 14 – Sunday 15 June from 10:30am-4pm, all 45 of Julia’s House’s Children’s Hospice’s giant Great Tail Trail sculptures and all 43 Tiny Tail sculptures will be displayed in a single, spectacular showcase at Bournemouth International Centre.

The weekend will be visitors’ last chance to see the ‘fin-tastic’ mermaid tail sculptures under one roof before they’re auctioned off to their forever homes at The Italian Villa on Friday 20 June.

There will be plenty of things to do during the weekend, including:

  • Meet the Artists: Find out the inspiration behind the sculptures designs in chats with the talented artists who brought the mermaid tails to life.
  • Children’s Activities: Keep the little ones busy with lots of fun games and activities they’ll love.
  • Mini-Sculpture Painting: Have a go at designing your very own mini mermaid tail!
  • Sea-themed Goodies: Pick up a souvenir from the trail, including tote bags, cards, badges and fun sea-themed mementos.
  • Grab a Treat: Enjoy a cuppa, snacks, and other tasty refreshments.

Entry is free for under 3s, with family tickets and early bird rates also available. All proceeds from the event will directly support Julia’s House life-changing work.

Bournemouth International Centre is operated by BH Live, a registered charity and social enterprise, in partnership with BCP Council. BH Live is a leading leisure centre and event venue operator and is the official community sponsor for The Great Tail Trail.

On behalf of BH Live, Jon Workman, Chief Executive Officer, shared;

“It’s been fantastic to work with Julia’s House Children’s Hospice as the official Community Partner for The Great Tail Trail. We’ve loved hosting some of their community sculptures across our leisure centres – hundreds of people have enjoyed visiting these unique and colourful pieces. We can’t wait to welcome everyone to Bournemouth International Centre to say farewell to this amazing community initiative.”

More information about the Farewell Weekend, including tickets, can be found online at bic.co.uk/events/tail-trail-2025.

Proceeds from the Farewell Weekend will go towards supporting the life-changing care Julia’s House provides for local seriously ill children and their families.
