Portsmouth goes Wet & Wacky to encourage more youngsters into the pool

This half term, BH Live is launching Wet & Wacky fun pool sessions across the city’s public leisure venues. This is to encourage more young people and their families to spend time and have fun together in the pool.

Weekly Wet & Wacky sessions are aimed at children of all ages in both our adult and learner pools. Inflatable swimming pool toys and giant play mats create a playground in the pool atmosphere that can be enjoyed by all the family

They are launching this half term at Mountbatten Leisure Centre, Pyramids, Eastney Swimming Pool and Charter Community Sports Centre and are priced at £4 per child (aged 5-16), £5 per adult and £15 for a family ticket (3 children and 2 adults).

Children aged under five can attend for free when accompanied by a full paying adult.

“Wet & Wacky is all about kids, big and small, having fun with their friends and family, letting off steam while of course being active, says Claire Oatridge, BH Live’s Regional Head of Operations.

“Our aquatics programme is growing all the time with swimming lessons, training and pool group exercise classes. Wet & Wacky will add a brand new dimension to the programme and will encourage even more people to get into the pools and have a great time.”

Mark Woolnough, Portsmouth City Council’s recreation manager, said: “The Wet & Wacky sessions are a fantastic new addition to the existing programme offered at our centres across the city. They’re great for children and families and will hopefully encourage a wider audience of residents to take part and get active on a regular basis.”

Wet & Wacky sessions launched at BH Live Active venues across Dorset in 2011 and run all year round with extra sessions programmed in during school holidays.

Each year they attract more than 46,000 attendees of all ages and abilities.
