Popular bistro and outdoor terrace reopening soon in Bournemouth Gardens

Bournemouth Pavilion’s Terrace Bistro and its neighbouring al fresco eating and drinking hot spot, the South Terrace, are preparing to reopen ahead of the Easter holidays, ready to welcome local residents, families, and visitors back to one of the town’s favourite locations.

Overlooking the beautiful Bournemouth Gardens and just moments from the seafront, the South Terrace returns with a refreshed look and a laid‑back atmosphere for everyone to enjoy.

Open seven days a week, it offers relaxed picnic bench seating and an easy-going menu served from its colourful pop-up food and drink stalls. Visitors can stop by for ice creams, slush puppies, hot and cold drinks, or something from the fully licensed bar.

A selection of crowd‑pleasing dishes includes 12‑inch stone‑baked pizzas, hand‑battered fish and chips, burgers and hot dogs, meaning there’s something for every taste and every kind of day out.

The Terrace Bistro is also reopening with a bright new seasonal menu. With fresh salads, sandwiches, fish and chips, burgers, sides, and kids’ meals, it’s an inviting spot for a relaxed lunch or a break during a day exploring the town. Its combination of indoor and outdoor seating, overlooking the gardens, makes it a welcoming stop for shoppers, theatregoers, walkers and families alike.

Both the South Terrace and Terrace Bistro will reopen on Thursday 26 March 2026, serving food and refreshments from 12pm daily through to September. A challenge 25 policy is in place for anyone purchasing alcohol, which must be consumed on the premises.

Opening hours may vary depending on the weather.

Mathijs PolBH Live’s Head of Hospitality, said;

“We’re thrilled to welcome everyone back to the South Terrace and Terrace Bistro, perfect spots to unwind with great food, refreshing drinks, and good company. Whether you’re a family looking for a relaxed place to eat, students catching up with friends, or visitors exploring the town, our vibrant outdoor spaces offer the ideal backdrop. Come soak up the friendly atmosphere in Bournemouth’s beautiful gardens, just moments from our stunning coastline.”
