Pelhams Park Leisure Centre, Bournemouth has passed a tough assessment by Sport England’s leading national quality scheme, Quest.
The leisure centre is managed by BH Live in partnership with Bournemouth Borough Council. Quest is the best-known improvement programme within the leisure industry. Its rigorous assessments challenge even the very top leisure centres in the UK.
In order to achieve Quest Entry, Pelhams Park Leisure Centre had a one-day assessment, across core areas of operation, and a mystery visit.
The centre’s vibrant atmosphere and community feel was praised by the assessor. Its health and wellbeing programme was highlighted as a key attribute. BH Live’s Swimming Academy, which has more than 800 pupils at the centre, employee friendliness and centre cleanliness were also applauded.
“This is a fantastic achievement and a real team effort, says Mike Lyons, BH Live’s director for sport and leisure.
“Taking part in Quest demonstrates our commitment to continually improve the facility and its activities for both employees and customers. I am very proud of the team at Pelhams and all those who contribute to making it a smashing community facility for all.”
Quest’s operations director, Caroline Constantine, said: “By meeting Quest’s high standards, BH Live and the team at Pelhams Park Leisure Centre have shown commitment to providing quality facilities and service to its customers.
“The new Quest standards are more demanding and challenging for the management team and staff, and it is now much more of an achievement to succeed in Quest at any level. In these tough economic times it is more important than ever that local leisure facilities can demonstrate their value, and Quest helps them do just that.”
