A brand new indoor Terrace Café has opened at Sir David English Sports Centre, situated on East Way in Bournemouth.
The new community-focused space is open to all including families, residents, sports clubs, young people and BH Live Active members.
During the week, self-service vending will be available for customers to buy hot and cold drinks, and snacks. At weekends and during the school holidays the menu includes grab-and-go items such as paninis, teas, coffees, slush puppies as well as pizzas; perfect for children’s parties, clubs and those visiting the inflatable party attraction, AirJumpX. Free WiFi is also available for customers.
Sir David English Sports Centre is a popular community sports venue with a multi-purpose sports hall, gym, and a multi-functional studio for daily group exercise classes. The centre works closely with local sports clubs and neighbouring schools to accommodate fixtures and training on its 3G rubber crumb pitches, netball courts and tennis courts to encourage more young people to get active.
The centre is operated by BH Live, a registered charity and social enterprise, in partnership with Bournemouth School Charitable Trust. BH Live has invested £100k to fund this transformation. Any surplus generated through Terraces Cafés is reinvested back into community services, facilities and activities.
Rob Cunningham, Director of Leisure and Business Development, said;
“Sir David English is a popular centre for all with lots of great facilities and activities. Visitors come to the centre every day to attend matches and classes, train at the gym, play on pitches, use the sports hall, and host children’s parties. We felt there was a need to create a space where visitors could sit down and socialise while enjoying something to eat and drink.
“We have worked closely with Bournemouth School Charitable Trust to make sure we got this new space just right and are delighted with this bright and welcoming Terrace Café. Customer feedback has already been very positive, and we thank everyone who has supported this initiative.”
The café is open to all Monday-Thursdays from 06:30 – 22:00, on Fridays from 06:30 – 21:00 and at weekends from 09:00 – 17:00. On Bank Holidays it is open from 08:00 – 18:00.
Other Terrace Cafés are situated at BH Live Active Littledown, Pelhams and Corfe Mullen.
