Major conference returns to Bournemouth International Centre

Following a successful event in 2010, the Association for Palliative Medicine is returning to Bournemouth with its annual conference.

Taking place from 15-16 March 2018 at Bournemouth International Centre, the event is expected to welcome over 450 delegates.

The Association for Palliative Medicine Supportive and Palliative Care Conference 2018 boasts a varied programme, including an opening plenary with Chris Pointon, co-founder of the #hellomynameis campaign. This campaign was created by Chris’ late wife Dr Kate Granger MBE to encourage and remind healthcare staff about the importance of introductions in healthcare.

As well as the multi professional academic programme, the conference features many practical workshops, as well as updates on political and ethical issues relating to the specialty of Supportive & Palliative Care.

Evidence-based compassionate care and new research findings will be promoted alongside new approaches to patient care and ‘state-of-the-art’ approaches to common palliative care problems.

‘Homeward Bound’, a play funded by NHS England that tells the true story of a pancreatic cancer diagnosis, will be acted out on day one of the conference.

“The Association for Palliative Medicine is delighted to be returning to Bournemouth International Centre to host their ASP Conference, which this year is being held in association with the Palliative Care Congress,” says Kate Smith, Event Manager for The Association for Palliative Medicine.

“The programme has attracted a high number of delegates from all the different disciplines and sectors, including doctors, nurses and allied health professionals from academia, primary care, secondary care and the third sector. We are looking forward to our time in Bournemouth and hope attendees find the conference engaging, informative and enlightening.”

Pat Coyne, BH Live’s Director of Venues and Events adds, “Bournemouth International Centre remains a popular choice of venue for leading medical and healthcare conferences, and we’re delighted to be welcoming back The Association for Palliative Medicine.”
