BH Live’s team at Littledown, the region’s flagship leisure centre have been applauded by Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance (DSAA) for their quick and professional response to emergencies.
DSAA Team Appreciation letters are sent to individuals or teams whose actions, words or behaviours are recognised as being “exceptional” and “above and beyond” expectations.
The centre recently received a Team Appreciation certificate for their “rapid” and “outstanding” administration of CPR and defibrillation to a visitor who experienced cardiac arrest at the centre. Emergency services quickly attended, with the visitor later making a full recovery.
Jo Weedall, Littledown’s Recreation Manager, has personally administered CPR to 10 people across her 36 year career at the centre.
BH Live Active centres are regularly applauded for their emergency response and dedication to ensuring customer safety. Last year, Quest assessments by Sport England’s trusted trade body, Right Directions, recognised several centres for their emergency response.
Colleagues were commended for their training and development, with teams regularly engaging in simulated emergencies and drills throughout the year. Selected members of the team are additionally qualified with several accreditations, including Emergency First Aid; SCaN (See, Check and Notify); ACT (Action Counters Terrorism); Safeguarding, and much more.
Littledown is operated by registered charity and social enterprise BH Live in partnership with BCP Council.
On behalf of BH Live, Rob Cunningham, Director of Leisure and Business Development shared;
