Jack and the Beanstalk at Bournemouth Pavilion – A Towering Success!

Last Christmas, Bournemouth Pavilion shone brighter than ever, enchanting audiences with the unmissable Jack and the Beanstalk. Produced by UK Productions, the pantomime was a spellbinding blend of comedy, drama, and festive magic that captivated thousands during its spectacular four-week run.

Leading the charge was Coronation Street soap sensation Calum Lill (Hollyoaks, Holby City, Doctors) as the dastardly Fleshcreep, delivering a performance brimming with mischief and energy. Returning Panto favourite David Ribi, star of Channel 5’s Milkshake!, once again won hearts as Jack, while Bournemouth’s beloved comedy maestro Noel Brodie brought endless laughter and mayhem in his tenth year as Silly Simon.

West End talent Oliver Brooks (Heathers, Matilda) made an unforgettable debut as Dame Trott, dazzling audiences with outrageous costumes, larger-than-life wigs, and comedic genius. Alongside him, Rachel Grundy (Legally Blonde The Musical, The Rocky Horror Show) as Princess Jill, Ceris Hine as the whimsical Vegetable Fairy, and Chris Fearn (Honk!) as the King completed a dream cast that lit up the Pavilion stage.

Audiences were unanimous in their praise:

  • “Noel Brodie keeps us coming back every time – a true comedy gem!”
  • “It was a whirlwind of laughs, music, and pure festive fun!”
  • “Oliver Brooks as Dame Trott was panto perfection – a larger-than-life star!”

But Jack and the Beanstalk was more than just entertainment. It was a celebration of inclusivity and community spirit. Relaxed, captioned, and school-specific performances ensured everyone could enjoy the magic.

Thanks to BH Live’s concessionary scheme, nearly 3,000 people and an additional 500 essential companions were able to experience the show at a discounted rate. In addition, more than 4,500 school pupils enjoyed a trip to the theatre. A further 250 primary school pupils were able to participate too thanks to contributions to BH Live’s Pavilion Outreach Fund.

“Panto is a magical introduction to the theatre for so many children,” shared Calum Lill. “I’ll never forget the first panto I saw—it sparked my love for acting, and it’s amazing to help inspire the next generation.”

Steve Turner, BH Live’s Director of Venues said;

“Pantomime has become a much-anticipated festive tradition at Bournemouth Pavilion and forms the first introduction to the world of theatre for many. I’m delighted that so many people enjoyed last year’s performance and we want to thank all our visitors for their continued support.”

UK Productions, who produce Bournemouth Pavilion’s seasonal panto, is one of the country’s leading producers of musical theatre and pantomime both nationally and internationally.

On behalf of UK Productions, Martin Dodd added;
