Industry Fellow introduces catering apprenticeship

BH Live’s Head of Hospitality, David Christie, has been awarded with a Fellowship of the Institute of Hospitality.

The Institute of Hospitality is the professional body for managers and aspiring managers working and studying in the hospitality, leisure and tourism industry. It has close to 20,000 members from every sector of the industry in over 100 countries around the world.

Fellowship of the Institute of Hospitality recognises the importance and expertise of the most senior members of hospitality, leisure and tourism industries. Fellows constitute an exclusive network of around 1,000 individuals who are positioned to shape the future of the industry and encourage and mentor the next generations of up-and-coming managers and leaders.

In order to achieve a Fellowship, David attained +six years membership, completed an intensive continuing professional development programme and was nominated and assessed by the Institute’s Executive Council.

David, who has been in the industry for 25 years, joined BH Live in 2018.  He heads up hospitality services at high-profile entertainment, cultural, sporting and event venues across the south of England. These include Bournemouth International Centre, Mountbatten Leisure Centre in Portsmouth, London Aquatics Centre and Copper Box Arena in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and Fairfield Halls in Croydon.

To share his industry expertise he will be introducing the social enterprise’s first catering apprenticeship programme later this year in partnership with Bournemouth and Poole College.

“I am very proud to be in such great company with the Fellowship programme,

commented David.

And because BH Live’s catering offer is so diverse; from pop up stalls to fine dining for large scale events; from cafés to fast and tasty festival catering I am also particularly excited about nurturing the next generation of catering talent through our learning and development programme.”
