Industry experts applaud excellence at Littledown

Littledown Centre, Bournemouth is among the UK’s top performing leisure venues.

More than 600 leisure and sports development venues participate in Quest, Sport England’s continuous improvement and quality mark.

Independent experts recently completed a comprehensive review of Littledown and its services including a mystery visit, two-day assessment and interviews. Reviewed standards included the overall customer experience, accessibility and service improvement.

The venue was commended for its diverse range of facilities, extensive activity programme for all ages and abilities, hospitality and reach which attracts more than 1.2 million visits a year. Employee development, training opportunities and business planning were also highly complimented.

Littledown is one of four public leisure venues managed by BH Live in partnership with Bournemouth Borough Council. Stokewood Leisure Centre in Bournemouth was also reviewed by Quest earlier this year and achieved top marks for its mystery visit.

Mike Lyons, BH Live’s Director for Sport and Leisure explains why BH Live backs the Quest programme and believes going through the review process is fundamental to improving industry standards and getting more people active.

“Quest is a well-respected continuous improvement tool which enables us, as operators, to celebrate what we do well and identify how we can do things better. By exploring opportunities identified through Quest, we can improve our service, broaden our offer, create greater appeal and reach out to more people. This makes a real difference to encouraging greater community health and wellbeing.”

Quest assessor, Martin Guyton added, “I enjoyed undertaking the Quest assessment at Littledown Centre, where I met a very professional and enthusiastic team, committed to the provision of well planned, accessible community health, wellbeing and physical activity services.  BH Live is clearly committed to continuous improvement for the benefit of customers and staff and will also, I believe, proactively seek to implement areas for improvement identified during the Quest assessment.”
