Free running events coming to Littledown

To encourage more local people to enjoy the benefits of being more active in the great outdoors, free weekly 2km and 5km running events will be taking place at Littledown Park on Sunday mornings from Sunday 17 September 2017.

This is part of the Great Run Local scheme, delivered by BH Live and local volunteers.

Each event is open to all ages and abilities, especially beginners, and is free to participate.

They start at 9.30am every Sunday morning from the cricket pavilion in Littledown Park.

“This a great initiative to get more people active together, especially families, says Mike Lyons, BH Live’s Director for Sport and Leisure.

“Since 2016, Great Run Local events have been taking place at Turbary Common with more than 650 attendances. People who hadn’t run before, are now regularly enjoying its benefits.

“By bringing Great Run Local scheme to Littledown we are hoping to encourage even more people to get involved.”

Whether they are starting to think about how they can do some more exercise or are a bit more experienced and looking to about improve their 2km or 5km running times, the park is a great place to train.”

To take part, register at greatrunlocal.org/register and get a Great Run Local wrist band.

BH Live is also keen to hear from anyone who’d like to be part of the Great Run Local volunteer team to marshal the sessions. Anyone interested in this should contact kate.rogers@bhlive.org.uk.
