FREE fitness classes in January – popular event returns

Local residents across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole are invited to kickstart their new year at a day packed with free back to back Les MillsTM exercise classes.

Taking place at Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) on Sunday 5 January 2025, the annual event is organised and funded by registered charity BH Live. It has been running since 2016 with the aim of encouraging more residents across the BCP region to discover the benefits of being and staying regularly active.

From the heart-pumping intensity of BodyPump™ and GRIT™ to the energetic fusion of BodyJam™, Les Mills Shapes™, and BodyCombat™, there is a class for every level of fitness, from complete beginners to experienced classgoers.

Classes are for people aged 14+ except BodyPump and GRIT which are for people aged 16+. Booking is essential as capacity is limited. Bookings can be made at https://bhliveactive.org.uk/find-an-activity/les-mills-launch-2025

Participants are encouraged to brighten their January by donning colourful clothing at the event. Registration will open at 8am, with makeup artists also in attendance for those wanting to opt for vibrant face painting.

Parking in Bournemouth International Centre’s multistorey car park will be free for attendees, with parking tickets validated inside the event hall. Spaces are available on a first come first served basis – visitors are recommended to car share or use public transport.

The event will be delivered by BH Live Active instructors, with all classes showcased running as part of BH Live Active’s class timetable at leisure centres across the BCP region.

BH Live operates leisure centres across the region in partnership with BCP Council. As a registered charity, BH Live promotes community health and wellbeing by providing physical activity and cultural opportunities for all.

Rob Cunningham, BH Live’s Associate Director for Leisure and Business Development said;

“Our January Les MillsTM launch event is one of the most anticipated days in our calendar. Since we’ve been running them at the BIC, we estimate we’ve had more than 16k attendances – which is just amazing!

“They are always lots of fun and BH Live Active’s talented instructors get to showcase our Les MillsTM class programme. More importantly we get to inspire more people to try out a new activity and be regularly active for better health and wellbeing. We hope everyone has a fantastic day – it is such an energetic way to kick start 2025!”

Local leisure centres and sports facilities run by BH Live in the BCP region include Littledown, Stokewood, Pelhams, Sir David English Sports Centre, Queen’s Park and BH Live Active in Corfe Mullen.
