We are teaming up with the Boscombe Summer Games to encourage more people to get active and engaged with sport as the Olympic Games begin in Rio.
Two weekends of sporting themed entertainment and activities for all the family will be taking place from 5 – 7 August and 12 -14 August on the Precinct and in the Sovereign Shopping Centre in Boscombe.
The games kick off on Friday 5 August at midday with a Rio Carnival themed party with Latin-American dance workshops, carnival themed stilt walkers, face painting, plus some live music.
Play table tennis as part of Active Dorset’s Ping contest, and see Special Olympic medal winners Ali and Duncan Feltham show off their skills on the table. The Friday event will finish with a parade going through the Boscombe precinct, led by London 2012 torch bearers.
The entertainment continues on Saturday 6 August with arts and crafts workshops, sport and activity sessions, mini sporting competitions, live displays and more!
From Sunday 7 August, the BH Live Active team will be running children’s activities and competitions. The following weekend they will be there with their giant inflatable football penalty shootout game and free fun speed, agility and hand eye coordination activities. Junior football coaching, football pitch and leisure centre membership giveaways and a family session on ALTITUDE High Ropes Adventure are all up for grabs during the games and the team will showcasing lots of other free and low cost activities taking place over the summer.

Boscombe Games provides a free, fun experience where anyone can get involved and try out a new sport or activity. Those taking part will have the opportunity to earn medals throughout the event by entering as many sessions as they like over the six dates with a chance to be a Boscombe Games medal winner for a Boscombe Market gold, silver or bronze gift hamper too! All events run from 12 to 3 pm.
