Crash course swimming lessons back by popular demand

To encourage more young people to get active and improve their swimming skills, BH Live is running crash course swimming lessons across Portsmouth this summer.

Aimed at children aged over four years old, the courses are suitable for all swimming levels from absolute beginner to the more advanced. They consist of five 30 minute lessons and cost £10 per child.

Lessons run Monday to Friday over the school summer holidays from 31 July until 1 September 2017 at Mountbatten Leisure Centre and Eastney Swimming Pool. Sessions and times vary at each centre.

“Crash course lessons are a great way to learn new skills, practice, maintain and improve swimming during the school holidays, says Claire Oatridge, BH Live’s Regional Head of Operations for seven of the city’s public leisure venues.

“Encouraging children to hone skills in the water, is a great way to keep them active. And it is a great skill for life too. Whether families are on a staycation this year, or taking a holiday by the sea, having water confidence and proficiency can be of real benefit and is something we actively encourage.”

Cllr Linda Symes, Portsmouth City Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure & Sport, adds: “Swimming is an invaluable skill for everyone to have, especially as we are an island city, and I’m delighted BH Live are offering this opportunity to help children improve their swimming and encourage them to have a more active, healthy lifestyle.”
