Competition to name brand new inflatable aqua park at Mountbatten Leisure Centre

Residents in Portsmouth are invited to enter a Facebook competition to name a brand new inflatable aqua park attraction which opens at Mountbatten Leisure Centre in the city next month.

The inflatable aqua park opens at Mountbatten Leisure Centre on Sunday 16 April 2023.

The 25-metre double run is packed with thrills. Exciting and daring features to climb and tumble over include the hump, demolition ball, basher wall, mangle, lighthouse, hedgehog, and slip away. At the end of each run, drop slide into the pool or take on the 5ft challenge slide if you dare!

How to enter

All entries must be submitted via Mountbatten Leisure Centre’s Facebook page in the comments section of the competition.

The Facebook competition closes at midnight on Thursday 30 March 2023. Competition terms and conditions apply – see notes to editors for more detail.

The selected name will be chosen by the team at Mountbatten Leisure Centre and the winner will get to bring a group of 10 people to try out the new attraction.

Sessions will run on Sundays and during the school holidays. Information about parties and group booking coming soon. All participants must be more than 8 years old, be a confident swimmer and able to swim at least 25 metres.

Mountbatten Leisure Centre is operated by registered charity BH Live in partnership with Portsmouth City Council.

Rob Cunningham, BH Live’s Associate Director for Leisure says,

“Getting more people into the pool and having a great time is what we are all about and we can’t wait to open this fantastic new attraction! Great for families, parties, groups and grown-ups too – we know this is going to be a smash hit and we are looking forward to choosing a great name that encourages people to come along and have a go!”

Cllr Steve Pitt, Portsmouth City Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure & Economic Development, said,

“We work in partnership with BH Live to provide a variety of leisure activities for our residents, as we’re committed to strengthen our communities and support healthier and happier living, so we’re excited about the launch of the aqua park at the Mountbatten Leisure Centre which will introduce the important element of fun family swimming back into Portsmouth”.
