Chris Jarvis presents Arts Awards to local youth theatre graduates

Popular actor and television presenter, Chris Jarvis, recently visited Bournemouth Pavilion to present five local youngsters with Arts Awards – a celebration of their commitment to the Arts.

The youngsters, aged between 12-15 years old, have each achieved a Bronze Arts Award: the first stage of a respected learning programme, accredited through Trinity College London in association with Arts Council England.

They have successfully completed 36 weeks of youth theatre and creative learning with BH Live at Bournemouth Pavilion. As part of their ongoing development, they have also taken part in additional arts activities, attended events, researched their arts inspiration and shared their developing skills with others. They have also created a portfolio to record their creative journey.

“We are so proud of our students and well done to everyone, says Paul Griffiths, who leads on BH Live’s Community Engagement and Learning programme.

“These are the first Arts Awards gained through our creative learning programme at Bournemouth Pavilion and we are delighted that Chris has joined us to celebrate this milestone achievement.”

Chris adds, “It’s great to see these young people getting involved in their local theatre and creating performance pieces of their own. A massive congratulations to all and well done!”

Students now have the opportunity to work towards their Silver Arts Award with BH Live.

Training for Arts Awards can be accessed through BH Live’s youth theatre and creative learning programme at Bournemouth Pavilion.

About Arts Awards

Supporting young people to develop as artists and arts leaders

Our mission is to support young people who want to deepen their engagement with the arts, build creative and leadership skills, and to achieve a national qualification.

Through Arts Award’s five levels, children and young people aged up to 25 can explore any art form including performing arts, visual arts, literature, media and multimedia. The award builds confidence, helps young people to enjoy cultural activities, and prepares them for further education or employment.

Arts Award is managed by Trinity College London in association with Arts Council England working with 10 regional Bridge organisations. Since its launch in 2005, the award has grown quickly and is now flourishing in arts centres, colleges and schools, community projects, libraries, galleries, local authorities, theatres, youth clubs and youth justice settings.
