Care Show back in Bournemouth

The Care Show is the UK’s largest and busiest care home event, taking place at Bournemouth International Centre on 25-26 March 2015. It plays a vital role in bringing industry professionals together twice a year to discuss and debate key issues and explore the opportunities for providing and managing quality care for a rapidly ageing population.

“This show is a regular and welcome visitor to Bournemouth International Centre and a key event in the calendar for the care industry,”

says BH Live Director of Venues Pat Coyne.

“It creates an opportunity for care professionals to catch up on the latest research, products and services – and apply them to build an improving picture of health and wellbeing among older people, whether they live at home or in residential care.”

According to Age UK, the country’s largest charity dedicated to helping everyone make the most of later life, 11 million people in the UK are over 65 years old, a number that is expected to rise by around 50% over the next 20 years. Estimates put the number of over 65s in 2050 at around 19 million. There are already an estimated 5,153 nursing homes and 12,525 residential homes in the UK caring for around 405,000 over 65s — 4% of all over-65s.

“The Care Show returns to Bournemouth International Centre for another packed event, a one-stop forum for those involved in the care of older people today.”

says James Samuel, Event Director, The Care Show.

“With the subject of care continuing to feature high on news agendas, we are delighted to be able to introduce further innovative care solutions and inspiration to Care Show Bournemouth again in 2015. We are delighted to be working with Nadra Ahmed of the National Care Association in facilitating our topical Big Debate and look forward to welcoming many visitors to share their views with local MPs.”

Dementia care will be high on the agenda – highlighted by the recent death of Sir Terry Pratchett, who suffered from a rare form of the disease. There are around 800,000 people with dementia in the UK, and the disease costs the economy £23 billion a year. By 2040, the number of people affected is expected to double and the associated costs are likely to treble. The UK Government is pledged to boost annual dementia research funding from £66 million in 2015 to £132 million, which will be adjusted for inflation, by 2025.

The Care Show exhibition and seminar programme spans two of the venue’s main halls, each incorporating a purpose-built theatre running a seminar programme curated by Care Management Matters and based on a year’s worth of industry research. Leading care industry commentators will share valuable insight on dementia care, funding strategies, the care bill, staff management, occupancy, CQC regulation, marketing and more. The talks are free to delegates registering in advance or on the day.

With more than 150 specialist suppliers at the exhibition, delegates will be able to view the latest products and services available to improve and support the care of older people, from on-call monitoring services, security and insurance to catering, furniture, laundry products and renewable energy solutions.

The Care Show is expected to attract more than 2,500 delegates, including residential home owners and managers, providers of home care and sheltered housing, and companies building new care facilities.

The show will be open 10am-4pm, 25-26 March 2015. To find out more about the Care Show visit www.careshow.co.uk/bournemouth/
