Bournemouth International Centre is one of the healthiest conference destinations in the UK – attracting leading medical associations for their annual conferences and events.
In the spring the Association of Surgeons in Training (ASiT) brought around 700 delegates to attend a weekend of educational courses, lectures and topical debate on all aspects of surgery and surgical training. Run by trainees for trainees, ASiT works to promote the highest standards in surgical training independently of the Surgical Royal Colleges and other professional medical organisations. ASiT is the UK’s second largest surgical speciality association with over 2,700 members.
In July (3-5), the Association of Coloproctology for Great Britain and Ireland (ACPGBI) held its Annual Meeting at Bournemouth International Centre. ACPGBI collaborated with its colleagues from Sweden, Norway and Denmark for a three-day conference featuring pre-conference teaching courses, high quality keynote lectures, and plenary and parallel sessions. The association includes over 1,000 surgeons, nurses and allied professionals advancing the knowledge and treatment of bowel diseases in the British Isles. One of the organisation’s main aims is to break down the taboo and embarrassment of talking about bowel disease and encourage more people to come forward for diagnosis.

The National Nurse Nutrition Group (NNNG) brought their conference to Bournemouth for the first time in July (10-11) and attracted more than 120 nurses. The objectives of the NNNG are to promote education in nutrition and related subjects for members of the nursing profession, for the public benefit, and especially for the benefit of patients in the hospital and community. In addition to this, the NNG promote activities which will assist members working in the field of nutrition support to increase their knowledge and enhance their contribution to the subject.
And in November, the British Academy of Audiology (BAA) returns to Bournemouth 16-17 November 2017 for its 14th annual conference following a successful event at Bournemouth International Centre in 2014 were it welcomed a record number of 530 delegates, 99 abstract submissions, 60 speakers and over 40 exhibitors. BAA’s vision is to provide a clear and strong voice for professionals in audiology and to promote excellence in clinical knowledge and practice. It is the largest organisation for professionals in hearing and balance in the UK, developing and promoting excellence in services for patients.
