BH Live secures two top places at UK fitness awards

BH Live has reached the finals at one of the UK’s biggest fitness awards. This is in recognition of its social impact and contribution to promoting physical activity, health and wellbeing in communities across the south of England.

The National Fitness Awards is an annual event which recognises excellence and achievement in gyms throughout the country.

Following its Leisure Trust Gym of the Year win last year, Littledown Centre in Bournemouth is now up for Group Exercise Gym of the Year. This is for its diverse activity programme which consists of more than 280 weekly exercise classes for all ages and abilities – especially the very young, older people, those living with health conditions and people on low income. More than 200,000 annual attendances are recorded and this is increasing each year.

BH Live Active, Corfe Mullen in Poole celebrates its first anniversary in November and is up for the Best Newcomer of the Year title. Since BH Live invested more than £1 million to transform the venue, 14,000 monthly visits to its gym, pool and activities provides tangible evidence that more people in the local area are getting active.

“A key goal and objective for us is to encourage greater participation in regular activity, says Mike Lyons, BH Live’s Director for Sport and Leisure.

“By continuously improving, partnership, investment, developing our people, expanding and providing local communities with a range of quality activities and the support they need to participate, we are seeing some fantastic outcomes. This alone gives us reason to celebrate – but to have what we are doing recognised on a national platform, and to be one of the UK’s leading providers, makes us doubly proud.”

The awards are organised by Script Events in partnership with WorkOut magazine, with support from headline sponsor ServiceSport. In each category up to seven finalists have been selected, who will now go through to the next stage of the judging process where they will be out to impress by showcasing first-hand the great work going on in their venues.

National Fitness Awards’ event director Judith Halkerston said, “All our shortlisted facilities should be really proud of their achievements in being chosen as a finalist as the calibre of entries has been amazing.”

Trophies will be handed out a glittering awards ceremony on Friday 1 December 2017 at The Athena in Leicester.

About National Fitness Awards

National Fitness Awards is an annual event which recognises excellence and achievement in gyms throughout the country.

The awards are organised by Script Events in conjunction with leading fitness industry magazine Workout, with support from headline sponsor ServiceSport, and in each category up to seven finalists have been selected, who will now go through to the next stage of the judging process where they will be out to impress by showcasing first hand the great work going on in their clubs.

This stage involves a visit to each finalist by a member of the awards team who will take a look around the facilities and chat to members and staff before compiling a comprehensive report, which will then be passed on to an expert judging panel to decide the lucky winners.

Trophies will then be handed out a glittering awards ceremony on Friday December 1 at The Athena in Leicester.
