Creative learning set to nurture local talent

Following the success of BH Live’s youth theatre programme, which launched two years ago, a creative learning programme for adults is launching in September.

Taking place in Bournemouth’s Grade II listed Art Deco style theatre, classes will encourage more people of all ages to get involve in culture, theatrical performance and production.

Weekly sessions provide an engaging and creative space for participants to learn, explore and perform new theatre skills as well as develop personal confidence and self-esteem.

We are having phenomenal success with our youth theatre programme and last year more than 17,000 hours of youth theatre learning and community engagement were delivered. It seemed only natural to create a similar opportunity for adults, says Paul Griffiths, who develops BH Live’s Community Engagement and Learning programme.

We aim to bridge the gap between the amateur and professional world. An authentic theatre experience will be given with exclusive access to the theatre’s facilities and expert knowledge from industry professionals. Company members will work as an ensemble to create performances in a variety of settings and events. It’s also a great social opportunity to meet like-minded people.”

Techniques including acting, improvisation, script work, comedy and physical theatre are included in the programme.

Adult theatre classes are open to everyone aged 18 years and over and a free trial session is also available. No experience or auditions are necessary.
