International Orchestral Performances announced for Fairfield Halls’ 2023-24 series, include Concerto Budapest Symphony Orchestra (12 Sept 23), the Symphony Orchestra of India (5 Dec 23), China Shenzen Symphony Orchestra (22 March 24), and the Czech National Symphony Orchestra (16 May 24)
Fairfield Halls’ Associate Director Jonathan Higgins is delighted to announce the latest set of concerts that will grace its stage as part of the 2023-24 International Orchestral Concert Series. From breath-taking symphonies to virtuosic solo performances, these events promise to enchant Croydon audiences with extraordinary musical experiences.
The orchestras performing are among the most eminent and sought-after ensembles globally, all performing in the renowned acoustics of Fairfield’s 1,800 seat concert hall. The orchestras are joining a season which also includes an appearance from the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine on their largest UK tour in 100 years, performing as part of the Mayor of London’s London Borough of Culture year 2023 (18 October)
The venue continues to make tickets for under 18s free (when accompanied by an adult), with a view to inspiring the next generation of classical music lovers and is helping people spread the cost of seeing world-class music with a multi-buy discount of up to 15% off.

On 12 September, Concerto Budapest Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Andras Keller, will be the next event in the season. Accompanied by soloist Mihaly Berecz on the piano, the evening will feature Liszt’s enchanting Rhapsody No. 2, Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 2, and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5.
On 5 December,The Symphony Orchestra of India, under the baton of conductor Zane Dalal, takes the stage. Violinist Marat Bisengaliev will perform as soloist in Khachaturian’s Violin Concerto. The program also includes Rossini’s Semiramide Overture and Tchaikovsky’s evocative Symphony No. 6.
On 22 March 2024, the China Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra will perform, led by conductor Daye Lin. The orchestra will be joined by violinist Tamsin Waley-Cohen, who will perform excerpts from Tan Dun’s score for “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.” The program also includes Chausson’s evocative Poeme and Mahler’s Symphony No. 1.
Finally, on 16 May 2016, The Czech National Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Ilya Mashkevich, will grace the stage, showcasing the rich heritage of Czech music, featuring Smetana’s “Moldau,” Bruch’s Violin Concerto, and Dvorak’s majestic Symphony No. 8.
