Brand new gym facilities at Sir David English Sports Centre in Bournemouth have opened and everyone is welcome to come and have a look.
For the benefit of the local community, local registered charity and social enterprise BH Live has entirely funded the project to transform the centre’s gym facilities to inspire more people to visit their local leisure centre and be regularly active.
The gym has been transformed into a welcoming and engaging space to enable visitors of all ages and abilities to enjoy their workouts. Brand-new Pulse Fitness equipment, redecoration, and feature lighting has been installed for a modern, bright look.
Featuring state-of-the-art equipment, the gym’s cardio area has been upgraded with the latest treadmills, cross-trainers, stair climbers, and rowing machines. With interactive screens, virtual training options and performance tracking technology, the new set up has been designed to offer a more engaging way to exercise.
The gym’s redesigned strength area includes plate-loaded machines to enhance its resistance training offering. Following customer demand, brand-new to the centre is a plate-loaded leg press, a functional training rig, and a four-station cable tower.
Sir David English Sports Centre is managed by registered charity and social enterprise BH Live in partnership with Bournemouth School Charitable Trust.
On behalf of BH Live, Rob Cunningham, Director of Leisure and Business Development shared;
“We’ve listened to what our customers and team have told us, and we’re really excited to have given the Sir David English Sports Centre gym a fresh new look. The updates are all about making it a more welcoming, enjoyable place to work out – whether you’re just starting your fitness journey or you’ve been with us for years. We can’t wait to see even more of our community getting active, having fun, and making the most of everything the centre offers.”
Located on East Way close to Castlepoint shopping centre, Sir David English Sports Centre has high-quality fitness facilities including a well-equipped gym complete with cardio zone, free weights area, resistance machines and functional fitness spaces.
It has a multi-purpose group exercise studio with a timetable of group exercise classes running seven days a week including Les Mills™ BodyPump, BodyCombat, Core, as well as circuits, Pilates, yoga, family gym sessions and more.
The centre also is a community sports venue and a hub for club activities, promoting grassroots sports development and working closely with neighbouring schools to encourage young people to be active.
Outdoors there are three six-a-side 3G rubber crumb training pitches and eight netball courts where teams regularly train and compete on a local, regional and national level.
The centre is also home to AirJumpX, a super-sized indoor inflatable obstacle course with a giant side, jelly mountain, wipe-out balls, and assault course. Public sessions and birthday packages are available.
A Terrace Café is open to all, serving a selection of hot and cold drinks, hot food, and grab-and-go snacks – perfect for visitors spectating sporting events, unwinding after a workout, or attending AirJumpX sessions and parties.
