Littledown is the region’s favourite sports venue

Littledown Centre in Bournemouth has been voted the region’s Favourite Sport Venue in the prestigious Primary Times Reader Star Awards 2017.

Primary Times readers voted for their favourite family friendly places and people in the area, in a specially designed online survey.

The awards are distinctive in nature, due to their authenticity. They are chosen, organically, by the readers of Primary Times, namely local families with primary school aged children.

Local families were informed of the questionnaire in Primary Times, a family friendly magazine that is delivered to primary schools across Dorset. With a distribution of 50,500 copies the magazine reaches 198 of primary schools in the county. Parents of children aged 4 to 11 across Dorset cast their nominations in an online survey on the Primary Times website – primarytimes.net

There were eight different categories asking readers for their favourite: family attraction; family eating place; indoor play or activity centre; outdoor activity centre; museum or historical attraction; sports venue; party venue or entertainer; theatre or arts centre.

Primary Times’ readers enjoy getting active and it was interesting to read the broad spectrum of answers to the Sports Venue or Provider category. The fantastic facilities offered at Littledown Centre helped it to secure the winning place in this category in Dorset.

Littledown is managed by social enterprise BH Live in partnership with Bournemouth Borough Council.

“What a super endorsement, says Mike Lyons, BH Live’s Director of Sport and Leisure.

“We believe positive lifestyle habits can be formed from a young age. That is why we offer so many different activities for young people to help them be more active. We are all very excited to have been recognised by our customers and readers of Primary Times. A huge thank you to all who voted for us.”

Linda Edwards, Publishing Editor at Primary Times said: “We are thrilled with the extraordinary response to this year’s Reader Star Award survey and we’d like to say a massive thank you to all the readers who took part. The results are sure to help other local families decide what to do and where to go. Each individual category winner deserves worthy recognition as they are clearly offering something that our readers want.”
