Film & Comic Con Bournemouth brings comic action, fantasy and a Back to the Future theme

Stars from TV, film, comics and the sports world will join the first ever, Film & Comic Con Bournemouth, on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 August 2015 to meet and greet fans, pose for selfies and sign autographs – against a backdrop of hundreds of stalls selling comic, TV and film memorabilia.

Staged at Bournemouth International Centre, the show is expected to attract around 5,000 visitors on each of the two days.

“These shows conjure up a massive, feel-good vibe all around the country and we’re delighted organiser Showmasters has chosen to bring it to Bournemouth International Centre,”

says BH Live Conference and Exhibitions Manager, Sarah Stainer.

“We’re expecting a very busy and lively couple of days and hope to welcome them back again next year.”

This is Showmasters’ first event on the South Coast and they have put together an amazing guest line up for the inaugural show. Visitors can meet, chat and take pictures with TV and film stars like Michael Beihn (The Terminator, Aliens), Robert Englund (Freddy Krueger), Christopher Judge (Stargate SG1) and many more from Doctor Who, Star Wars, Red Dwarf and Game of Thrones.

This year, the show has a special mission. As the Back to the Future Trilogy turns 30, Showmasters is using the occasion to raise awareness and help fund research into a disease that had very little publicity until Michael J Fox discovered he had Parkinson’s Disease (PD) when he was just 37.

Visitors are being invited to mark the film’s anniversary with some cool prop shots, featuring Doc Brown’s greatest ever invention, the Delorean Time Machine, and the replica Clock Face.

Stepping up for photo opportunities elsewhere will be sporting legends Paul Gascoigne, Bryan Robson, Carl Foggerty, Geoff Hurst, Ronnie O’Sullivan, Ian Wright, Frank Bruno and more.

And finally, making a special appearance in the Foyer Bar is the Iron Throne from the hit series Game of Thrones, where visitors can, albeit briefly, take their seat and be pictured as the King or Queen of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros.

“We are really looking forward to bringing our Film & Comic Con show to Bournemouth for the first time, adding to our growing list of nationwide events,”

says Jason Joiner, MD Showmasters Ltd.

“Bournemouth International Centre is an ideal venue, we have a fantastic guest line up for the launch show, and the team are really looking forward to their weekend by the sea.”
